Americans
Sitting on Personal Data ‘Time Bomb’
Survey reveals consumers are taking a gamble on their digital data,
not implementing any backup of computers, photos
Aliso Viejo, CA – December 2, 2008 – Americans are
still not taking the time to backup their computer data, and those that
backup do it too infrequently, according to a new study released by Memeo®
Inc., a leader in digital media management services for the home and
business. The survey indicates consumers are at risk of losing precious
personal data, such as digital pictures, emails, financial documents
and correspondence, as they have no backup source should a computer hard
drive fail.
The average American adult has 1,800 digital files of irreplaceable
memories and personal documents, according to the Consumer Electronics
Association. However, according to Memeo’s study, 74% of those surveyed
revealed they backup their data no more than once every three months,
24% of which never backup at all. Respondents’ biggest frustration with
backing up files is that they believe it is time consuming (38%), expensive
(24%) and that they just don’t know how (22%).
“With the holiday season in full swing, Americans are going to take
a lot of digital pictures and videos of events with friends and family,
making this time of year especially crucial for consumers to backup their
data,” said Hong Bui, CEO and founder of Memeo. “Most people never realize
the importance of a complete backup system until something unfortunate
happens and they lose everything. The reality is that most people need
a combination of online and offline backup options to keep their important
data safe in the event of a disaster as well as quickly accessible.”
With so many circumstances beyond an individual’s control, such as physical
damage, theft and file corruption, consumers should adopt a two-prong
approach to backing up, which includes online and local plans.
Memeo offers the following key reasons why both forms of backup are
essential:
- Online backup is disaster-proof and protects data even when the computer
is stolen, dropped and damaged.
- Online backup is available anywhere that has an Internet connection.
Consumers are not limited to their local backup system in order to
retrieve data.
- Online storage is often free or low cost.
- Local backup is important because consumers can retrieve and restore
files very quickly, ideal for high volumes of files that are frequently
accessed.
- Backing up locally also means that individuals have complete control
of their data at all times. Online services own and manage a user’s

Major Distribution Deal, Significant Revenue Growth and New Hires Add
to Impressive 2008 Results
ALISO VIEJO, CA, Aug 25, 2008 (MARKET
WIRE via COMTEX) -- Memeo Inc., a leader in digital media management
services for the home and business, today announced it has experienced
significant growth to-date in 2008, including a new distribution deal with
Buffalo Technology, the appointment of Dan Nadir as VP of product management
as well as a 500% increase in revenues compared with the same time period
last year.
The company aims to simplify the digital
life by providing sharing, backup and sync software for consumers and businesses.
Memeo today expands its current relationship with Buffalo in Europe and Asia
Pacific with an agreement to bundle Memeo AutoSync software, which synchronizes

In addition, Dan Nadir has joined the company
as VP of product management. In this role, Nadir will be responsible for defining
Memeo's product roadmap. Prior to Memeo, Nadir served as the VP of product

Nadir also served as VP of product management for SaaS email security vendor
FrontBridge Technologies, acquired by Microsoft in 2005.

Memeo™ Share Integrates
with Facebook;
Opens Registration for ‘Public Preview’
First 1,000 to sign-up for media
sharing offering receive free lifetime use
Aliso Viejo, CA – June 24, 2008 – Memeo Inc.,
a leader in digital media management services for the home and small
business, today introduced the Public Preview of Memeo Share, its media
sharing solution. The latest version includes several new features, such
as the ability to automatically post photos to Facebook. Memeo also opened
enrollment for the general public to test the product, offering the first
1,000 individuals that register free lifetime use. Consumers can visit
www.memeo.com/memeoshare.php to sign up.
Memeo Share addresses the pain points that
occur from traditional methods of sharing digital media by seamlessly delivering
high-resolution, original photos directly to computer desktops of friends
and family. It operates behind-the-scenes, enabling users to send and receive
content without having to baby-sit their time-consuming uploads and downloads.
The product offers a shortcut to today’s conventional methods of resizing
and emailing files, and also provides the means to share many high-quality
images at once, which often overloads email.
The Public Preview includes new features
that provide users with additional controls and methods to more easily
set up and distribute content, such as automatically posting pictures on
Facebook by creating a new album or adding to an existing one. Setting
up a Sharing Circle™ of people to distribute media to is now more effortless
and easy to manage with the ability to import contacts from various Webmail
services, including AOL, Gmail, Windows Live™ Hotmail® and Yahoo!. The
Public Preview of Memeo Share also makes selecting and sorting media more
efficient by identifying photos through user-created SmartTags. This enables
consumers to organize and select which pictures to share based on their
assigned phrases, like ‘Dad’ or ‘Hawaii trip’, saving time and effort from
browsing through folders to find relevant media.
“Memeo Share’s integration with Facebook
combines intimate, personal sharing that can also extend to one’s online
life,” said Hong Bui, CEO and co-founder of Memeo.“We are enabling individuals
to more easily share their electronic media with friends and family, and
this launch is another step in our mission to simplify consumers’ digital
lives.”
By distributing high-quality content directly
to the computer desktops of user-created Sharing Circles, recipients can
then print their own glossy photos, transfer images to a media player for
personal viewing or store them for safekeeping. The product also uploads
the pictures to a user’s Memeo Share site for public and private viewing,
where individuals can preview, leave comments and rate their friends’ pictures.
The product is compatible with Windows® 2000, XP and Vista. Registration
for the Public Preview is open on Memeo’s Web site at www.memeo.com/memeoshare.php
and is limited to 10,000 sign-ups, with the first 1,000 receiving lifetime
use of the product for free. For more information on Memeo and its backup,

Memeo Personalizes
Media Sharing with Desktop-to-Desktop Offering
Beta launch of
Memeo Share bridges the gap between the Internet and the PC
SAN FRANCISCO – Web 2.0 Expo
(booth #117) – April 23, 2008 – Memeo Inc., a leader
in digital media management services for the home and small business,
has further simplified consumers’ digital lives with the beta launch
of Memeo Share, its new media sharing solution, at the Web 2.0 Expo.
Now, consumers no longer need to rely on email, Web site uploads or
other time-consuming, manual methods of distributing
digital content.
With Memeo Share, individuals can depend
on a single product to share all of their digital media with desired circles
of friends and family. Users can automatically send pictures, videos and
other documents directly to computer desktops, eliminating the hassle of
resizing photos, editing and compressing video and manually emailing or
uploading content. Additionally, because Memeo Share delivers high-quality
media directly to a PC, consumers can modify, reuse and share the photos
and videos they receive as desired.
“Consumers take a lot of digital photos
that they use to stay in touch with each other’s lives, but do not have
a simple method to share them,” said Hong Bui, CEO and co-founder of Memeo.
“Memeo Share provides an easy way to automatically send high-resolution
photos and videos directly to the desktops of friends and family, simultaneously.
By unleashing content from Web sites, consumers can send
high-quality photos to their loved ones that can be printed, altered, shared
and enjoyed however they wish.”
Upon installing Memeo Share, users create
circles of friends or family members to distribute their digital content.
After the initial set-up, anytime individuals add photos or videos to their
share folders, the product automatically distributes the content directly
to their circles’ computer desktops. Additionally, Memeo posts it online
to the user’s Memeo Share site, where visitors can preview the content
before downloading it to their computer.
Memeo Share is compatible with Windows®
2000, XP and Vista. Registration for the beta is open on Memeo’s Web site,
limited to the first 200 sign-ups. For more information on Memeo and its

president of storage and semiconductor research at IDC. “Everyone who owns
a PC has the same basic need to protect their data from accidental deletions,
theft, or disaster. Backup software solutions like Memeo’s help to bring
advanced data protection functionality into an easy-to-use, affordable
package including an option for off-site data protection in the case of
a disaster.”
By integrating into Windows,
AutoBackup Premium allows users to go “back in time” to restore previously
deleted or altered files. Whether it is a few seconds ago or a few months
ago, AutoBackup Premium can retrieve any lost or modified file with a simple
click of the mouse. After a simple click on the folder, a popup window
will display all files previously located in that folder to allow a user
to simply browse for a previous version. For instance, if you are editing
a photo, simply right click on that photo and all past versions will pop
up as thumbnails. You can choose which version you like the best.
Also new to AutoBackup Premium
is the advanced SmartTags™ feature, which allows users to tag files based
on keywords and perform backups based on those keywords. Now users do not
need to know the location of their photos or documents in order to back
them up – just the keyword. For example, you can create a tag word such
as “financials” for financial files and AutoBackup Premium will automatically
back up any financial documents and files without any effort by the user.
Memeo AutoBackup Premium is
available exclusively from Memeo’s web site at www.memeo.com/autobackuppremium for
a special introductory price of $49.95. Other Memeo products are available
in over 10 languages including Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese,
Spanish, German, French, Italian, U.K. English, and Brazilian Portuguese
and from our OEM partners including WD, Seagate, Toshiba, Buffalo Technologies,
D-Link, and retail outlets and online retailers such as CompUSA, DataVision,
Fry’s, eCost.com, Amazon.com, J&R, MicroCenter, and Newegg.com.

MEMEO INTRODUCES
AUTOBACKUP PRO FOR COMPLETE NETWORK PROTECTION
Designed for ‘Prosumers’
and Business Users, AutoBackup Pro Goes Beyond An Individual System and
Provides Even More Flexibility, Security and User-Friendly Features Than
Ever Before
ALISO VIEJO, Calif.
– August 6, 2007 – Memeo Inc., a worldwide provider of digital
life and information management solutions for the consumer and business
markets, today announced the latest addition to its line of backup software
solutions – Memeo AutoBackup Pro. The new product combines the same powerful
and innovative features of Memeo’s flagship backup solution, AutoBackup
2.0 with even more flexibility, security, and user-friendly capabilities.
With AutoBackup Pro, users can now extend digital content protection
throughout their entire network instead of just an individual system.
The Windows VistaTM compatible
Memeo AutoBackup Pro is the ideal content management and data protection
software for ‘prosumers’ and small business users with advanced needs.
It allows you to not only seamlessly protect personal files such as photos,
videos, music and work files on a local system but also content that is
stored on the network as well.
“We are seeing more home and
small business users with multiple computers and NAS devices – a full network.

plan. They need the same robust solution that enterprise customers demand,”
said Hong Bui, CEO of Memeo. “However, regardless of your level of technical
expertise, it is imperative to have products that offer the desired flexibility,
security and zero maintenance. Memeo AutoBackup Pro is a testament to our

powerful solutions that are innovative and customer-centric.”

instruct Memeo to pause until a specific time such as when the computer
is idle or network is free. This allows users to optimize their system
resources and network availability to their individual needs. Even though
AutoBackup Pro is paused, it is still tracking any changes made, all while
staying out of their way.
Also new to AutoBackup Pro
is its ability to back up files located on a local network. Users can set
a daily designated time for Memeo to scan for changes on the network and
backup to an external hard disk, another NAS device, or online destination
for offsite protection and instant access. AutoBackup Pro is a cost effective,
zero-maintenance solution for home and business users who want to protect
content on their network.
Memeo AutoBackup Pro is available

Add Efficiency To Your Small Business
With Peripheral Technology
By Richard Oppenheim, CPA, CITP
My life is surrounded with technology and a wide range of support products.
Perhaps my office is no different than yours, with packages, memo paper,
assorted recharging plugs, boxes of CD sized disks that contain software,
data files, press releases, and a few movies.
There is a continuing requirement to change things in my office. It is
not just my hidden Feng Shui perspective, it is the need to gather new
devices, repair or replace old ones, add more technology and so on. Every
month, and often more frequently, we all receive data and opinions about
the latest upgrades, enhancements, and new products that are soon to be
available on the market.
Of course, our first review of the choices rarely considers the additional
funds that we would have to expend to obtain the newest and greatest. However,
users of technology do so, not at their peril, but to support their business
and personal lives. This is an ideal time, just at the cusp of the seasons
of audit and tax production to describe some new and usable products that
are being added to my office.
It seems that nobody likes to back up data. As important as the process
is, one would think that backing up would become as natural as checking
sports scores and stock prices.
Backing up all of the collected data, images and graphics that rest on
our computers is something that is not done frequently enough nor with
sufficient effectiveness.
Backup
Memeo is an auto backup program
from Tanagra, Inc. Originally sold to the consumer market, memeo now comes
in a version for the multi-computer small or home office. After installation,
you can set the preferences for backups to copy and archive folders or files
to any drive on the network. Memeo’s multi-destination solution works with
any combination of on-line and off-line storage devices. The backup software
executes in the background which enables the system to handle backups while
doing other work. When you take the laptop on the road, the software tracks
all changes made to any files, or if new files are added. When your return
to the office all updates to the backup archives will be completed automatically.
One more feature is the powerful search engine that provides a seek and
find capability to locate and then restore a single file, an entire folder,
or an entire drive. Security and password protection can be implemented
at the data or user level.

Aliso firm takes iPods to the next level
Memeo , Inc.'s newest release extends beyond
music
By SALVADOR HERNANDEZ
The Orange County Register
ALISO VIEJO - Take another look at your
iPod.
Actually, Hong Bui is asking consumers to
rethink the way they think about their iPods altogether.
"Almost everyone already has an iPod," said
Bui, CEO and cofounder of Memeo. "We can extend its capability beyond
music."
Memeo, based in Aliso Viejo, released in
December their latest product, iExtend. The software, which is available
now for download through its Web site, allows consumers to extend the use
of their iPod to access e-mail, contacts, calendars, PowerPoint presentations,
news and more.
"We extended the ability of the iPod
beyond what you can do now," Bui said.
The software allows consumers to configure
what information they want to download into their iPod. They can download
the information individually, or set up the software so that updates and
new information is added automatically.
"Once you configure your settings,
you check what information you want to take with you, and then plug in
your iPod," Bui said.
You can then view your files with the screen
in your iPod. iPods without screens can upload the information and transfer
it to another computer for viewing.
All this, Bui said, is done with as little
work as possible.
"All this is done automatically in
the background," Bui said. "It just sits quietly in the background.
When you save, it wakes up."
iExtend automatically reformats files to
save as much space as possible in your iPod, Bui said.
For example, the resolution of large pictures
is reduced when they are saved into the iPod, since the small screen does
not require high resolution. You can also opt to take the original resolution
of the photo so you can take it to another location.
The box version of the software is scheduled
to be available next week through Amazon.com, and it will be making its
way to Apple stores, Bui said. The price will be around $20.
Memeo, which was founded in 2002 and currently
has about 15 employees in Aliso Viejo, creates software to back up files
in personal and professional computers.
"People want to back up their files,
but it’s a chore," Bui said. "We remove the chore from the back
up."
Like iExtend, its software is designed to
automatically back up files.
iExtend brings another level to that purpose,
Bui said, by having people use a device they already use in their every
day lives.
"It works naturally," Bui said. "You
want your content in your iPod, just plug it in."
The software will also work for those who
want to back up their files.
"It allows you to have extra protection
for files you don’t want to lose, like wedding photos, or taxes," Bui
said.
This also reduces the need for external
memory, Bui said.
"The consumer doesn’t have to think
about it," Bui said. "It’s just click, click, click."

TANAGRA
OFFERS ITS MEMEO BACKUP SOFTWARE TO
THE SMB MARKET
Memeo Addresses the Business-Critical
Need for a Robust and Easy-to-Manage Data Protection Solution
Laguna Niguel, California - September 26,
2005 - Tanagra, Inc., a worldwide provider of file management and backup
solutions for the digital consumer, today announced it will offer its high-performance
file management and backup software, Memeo to the SOHO and SMB markets.
"Many small businesses, lacking IT
resources, do not back up their data at all, and only a small percentage
back up their data to a remote site," said Doug Chandler, Program
Director at IDC. "Tanagra's Memeo addresses the need for backup in
home offices and small businesses by automatically backing up data without
IT assistance."
"We originally offered Memeo only to
the consumer market, but we have seen an increased demand in the SOHO and
SMB markets-mainly because other enterprise-class backup solutions can
cost upwards of $50,000 or more. Small businesses typically don't have
that type of budget nor do they have internal resources necessary to maintain
a reliable backup strategy," stated Hong Bui, CEO and Co-founder of
Tanagra. "Memeo is everything a small business needs. It's cost-effective,
easy-to-use, powerful, and reliable. It requires no maintenance and has
everything other business-class solutions have at a fraction of the cost,
which makes it the perfect backup solution for any small network environment."
Memeo offers disaster protection with its
optional Memeo Internet Disk feature, which allows users to store vital
data online and off-site without the hassle of swapping tapes and drives
and having to ship that media to a remote location. Memeo is multi-destination
solution that works with a wide range of on-line and off-line storage devices
simultaneously, which provides flexibility and investment protection.
Memeo is ideal for protecting digital files
on PCs and notebooks. Once it is installed, Memeo will turn available storage
such as an internal or external hard disk, online server, or another storage
device on your local network into a hands-free backup system. Its Zero-Touch
data preservation technology allows the software to run in the background
so users can automatically preserve and keep track of data files. Its simple
SmartPick TM checklist is designed to take the guesswork out of locating
important files , which can then be sent to any of multiple backup destinations
using rules-based processing . This is done transparently in the background
so employees don't have to spend time sorting out file destinations and
backing up data. Memeo also keeps track of changes made to a file while
the user is disconnected from the designated backup destination and automatically
updates those changes upon reconnection. Memeo includes a powerful search
feature so users can instantly find and restore any information- from a
version of a single file to an entire computer worth of data. Memeo allows
users to control what data is protected and allows administrators to customize
security levels.

REVOLUTIONIZES DIGITAL FILE PORTABILITY WITH MEMEOT FOR IPOD
Memeo E xpands the Capabilities
of iPod Beyond Music to Include E-mail and File Access and Helps Consumers
Seamlessly Manage and Safeguard Precious Digital Files
Laguna Niguel, California - February 14,
2005 - Tanagra, Inc., a worldwide provider of backup software for the digital
consumer, today announced it is launching an iPod version of its flagship
product, Memeo. Memeo is designed to address the challenges of the digital
lifestyle by providing consumers with a way to effortlessly and universally
preserve and keep track of data files by working with their behaviors.
Memeo now expands the capabilities of iPod
beyond managing music files to include access to e-mail, calendars and
other personal files. iPod users can use Memeo to catch up on their latest
e-mails, review notes, check schedules, look up contacts and have their
latest files and digital photos with them wherever they go. Once the users
have selected what files they want Memeo to keep track of, it will automatically
update anything on the iPod along with new music selections each time the
device is plugged in.
The increasing use of smart devices, especially
the iPod are making music, photographs and the rest of our lives digital
and portable. The challenge is how consumers will safeguard, monitor and
manage all these files across multiple devices. Helping consumers manage,
track and safeguard these digital files in a simple, natural way is the
focus of Memeo zero-touch data preservation technology.
"The 20 million iPod users in the market
today are already inseparable from their iPod. It is inevitable for them
to want to do more. Memeo extends the functionality of the iPod beyond
music naturally and effortlessly," stated Hong Bui, CEO and Co-founder

your work? Plug in your iPod. Memeo will do all of the work automatically."
Memeo allows for integration and transformation
of data and can advance the capability of a particular device. This further
demonstrates the ability of Memeo to break away from traditional "back
up" software. Because it works in concert with a user's behavior,
Memeo makes data migration effortless. Consumers can simply and securely
establish what file to backup to a certain storage destination with Memeo's
simple SmartPickT checklist. The product also offers multiplexing technology,
which allows users to choose any combination of a wide selection of storage
resources both on- and off-line to meet their individual needs. For example,

Tanagra Inc. Launches MEMEO Zero-Touch Data Preservation
Software Providing Automatic Protection against Digital File Loss without
Additional Hardware

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers
LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct.
12, 2004--
With consumers moving rapidly to the digital
world for everything from photography and music to finance and mobile communication,
protection against loss of valuable data files has become paramount. Helping
consumers safeguard and manage their digital files in a simple, friendly way
is the focus of MEMEO, zero-touch data preservation technology(TM) introduced
by Tanagra.
"MEMEO was born out of necessity," explained
Tanagra co-founder and CEO Hong Bui. "The product was developed because
co-founder James Osborne's mother's system crashed and she immediately lost
years of work files as well as cherished digital photos of her newborn grandchild." He
added, "Her unfortunate experience helped us define the standards for
MEMEO's unique simplicity. Her wish was straightforward- something easy to
install and easy to use to protect her important files. With our zero-touch
data preservation technology, we've fulfilled her request, and hope to make
things easier for millions of consumers like her."
File loss is not an uncommon problem for consumers.
Nor is frustration with arcane back-up systems. According to industry research,
although 91 percent of consumers surveyed understood the need to preserve data,
two-thirds have nonetheless lost important files and more than half have never
been able to recover their losses. MEMEO addresses directly the need for uncomplicated
data preservation and protection. And it does so without costly additional
hardware.
Designed for the digital family, with ease of
use and complete automation as its mission, MEMEO gives consumers the power
to effortlessly preserve and keep track of data files. By making back-up constant
and automatic, MEMEO eliminates a repetitive, often forgotten chore. With MEMEO,
consumers can take advantage of a wide selection of storage resources both
on- and off-line: data can be stored on an internal or external hard disk,
another drive or network, or to an internet storage location. Consumers also
set preferences for each file-storage destination, security and authentication-by
clicking through a simple SmartPick(TM) checklist. MEMEO provides the zero-touch
back-up support to every file, regardless of location, and makes managing these
files efficient and easy.
The real power behind this user-friendly interface
lies in MEMEO's patented DataClad(TM) multiplexing data processing engine.
It discreetly monitors activity in each file, updating and saving automatically
when changes are made, and retrieves at the simple click of a button the latest
version of work. Even work done while disconnected from a designated back-up
destination is saved automatically upon reconnection.
"MEMEO allows consumers to store their
digital files safely, according to their value and purpose, while making the
best use of available storage resources," said Tanagra co-founder and
Chief Technology Officer James Osborne. "Think of how and where we store
various items we all have in our own homes-photo albums, CDs and books on shelves,
valuables in fireproof boxes, miscellaneous and rarely-used items in boxes
in the attic or garage. We put these things in places that are easy to get
to when needed, and we organize them in ways that are easy to use. MEMEO does
the same for our irreplaceable digital files. Information can be saved to secure
offsite internet locations, work files to work network servers, and entertainment
files to external devices like iPod."
Adds CEO Bui, "Organizing, protecting and
managing the ever-increasing data of our digital lives is daunting. Now, with
MEMEO, irreplaceable digital files can be saved instantly to storage locations
chosen by the consumer, and accessing this data is a simple search away. MEMEO
works today to simplify our digital households. Future versions of MEMEO will
address even broader consumer digital entertainment needs-everything from photography
and business files to music and movies."
Free previews of MEMEO are currently available
at www.memeo.com.
